More Audition Info

Spring 2020 Frequency Vocal Jazz Program Auditions

  • Vocalists: bring a solo piece to sing (preferably jazz, but it can be anything non-classical). Your audition will be accompanied on piano (a cappella singing is not permitted). 

— Friday, November 15 or Wednesday, January 15 (Music Student Auditions) Auditions for Applied Music and other music ensembles will be held at 1 PM. Frequency vocal auditions will begin at 3:00 PM with an informational meeting in the Rehearsal Hall – Rm. 2413. 

— Tuesday, January 21 at 3:00 PM (Studio A – Rm 2218) or by appointment – if you can’t make the above dates

  • Instrumentalists: bring a jazz standard of your choice to play. It is preferred that you are able to play the melody, ‘comp’ changes, and take a short solo. Auditions for ALL instrumental ensembles will be conducted by Prof. Steve Torok at the Music Student Auditions – Friday, November 15 or Wednesday, January 15 at 1:00 PM.   • All Sound Engineer slots will be filled by individual interview and instructor recommendation.

Please note there will be some additional costs for travel and outfit fees throughout the semester.
