The Music of John Coltrane

Wednesday, November 1 – 1 p.m. (FREE…bring your lunch)  & 7:30 p.m. (paid admission)

Music Bldg. 2200, Studio A Oceanside Campus

John Coltrane: Jazz Pioneer

Remarkably, the solo career of the legendary John Coltrane lasted only seven years. In that time, he created some of the most unique, innovative, and forward-thinking music in the jazz canon. Professor Steve Torok, accompanied by the 2017 Downbeat award-winning MiraCosta Jazz Collective, continues  his ongoing lecture/performance series with an examination of the life and music of this imaginative, restless, and pioneering jazz innovator.

Music Tutoring

Tutors are MiraCosta students who enjoy helping other students, are approved by instructors as knowledgeable in the course material, are skilled in relating effectively to students and are trained in tutorial skills. The tutor for the 2017-18 school year is Camryn.

How to prepare for a tutoring session:

Tutoring is a team effort: you and your tutor work together to help you do well in your courses. Be sure to bring your class notes, textbook, current class assignment, and a list of particular questions you may have. Make sure that before you see a tutor that you have completed or attempted your assignments and have made every effort to overcome your learning difficulties on your own. If  you cannot seem to do so, then we will be glad to help you.
